2 days spent with City of Sultans was stellar

 


I was with my 22 year old daughter and booked City of Sultans to take us on a tour of the highlights of Istanbul the first day and Ephesus the next day. The first day everything was clearly arranged: what time we would be picked up...what we would see, etc. Eron picked us up from our hotel exactly at 9:30..not a minute before or after..., and we had a very delightful day. We skipped all of the lines to the sites because we were accompanied by a guide...amazing. Eron told us stories, history, shared parts of his life.....authentic. I made Eron aware I am at a point in my life where I am no longer collecting things. He did take us to a rug place which was incredible and explained the colour gotten from ladybugs...how the rugs were made etc, but NO pressure! We went to the market and I got prices from $800 US to 800Turkish lire for shahtoosh shawl (I figured since I was in Turkey I should bring home 1 treasure). We met up with Eron and he took us to a "reputable" vendor and the price was 430 (about) Turkish lire. Eron left us saying we would be picked up early the next morning to go to Ephesus. The next morning we were picked up at our hotel at the specified time, but the plane information from Istanbul to Ephesus was not shared with us or the driver........ after standing in 4 lines at the airport, we figured it out and were on our way. We were met by a woman guide... she was AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, empathetic,... truly truly a special soul... where Eron told us there was a saying, "No money, no honey".. she explained the origin, and showed us where it all began .... she made all of the sites come alive including how Nike got its logo:)... and the authentic, local place she brought us to for lunch.... sooooo accommodating (my daughter and I are vegetarians and gluten free) She asked us if we wanted to go to a leather factory or rug factory and we said no...no pressure.

I had many a discussion with City of Sultans before the trip, and outside of the airplane bump.... the entire 2 days spent with City of Sultans was stellar..we loooooved it!!!!
